Nigerian Reform Group drags FIFA, NFF to court over abandoned Stadium

Nigerian football stakeholder Prince Harrison Jalla has filed a lawsuit against FIFA and the NFF, alleging the misappropriation of grants and the illegal abandonment of a sports stadium project in Delta State.

Prince Harrison Jalla has dragged FIFA, the NFF, and Monimichelle Sports Facilities Limited to court over the abandoned Mini Sports Stadium in Ugborodo.

The suit alleges that 90 percent of the contract sum was paid despite the project remaining unfinished.

Jalla claims this constitutes a “gross mismanagement of public funds,” seeking accountability for misappropriated FIFA Forward Development grants intended for Nigerian grassroots infrastructure.

The plaintiffs are demanding a refund of diverted sums and a mandatory injunction for FIFA to produce independent audit reports.

Jalla is also seeking N500 million in damages for the Ugborodo community’s loss of land use.

The body stated, “The subject matter of the suit is FIFA’s alleged complicity in the misappropriation and embezzlement of its grants to Nigeria since 2014.”
