Man City owner Sheikh Mansour  faces allegations of weapon supply to Sudan’s RSF accused of genocide

NGO FairSquare has called for Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour to be banned from English football, alleging he is a “senior and visible UAE interlocutor” with Sudan’s RSF paramilitary group accused of committing genocide, as the UK’s new football regulator prepares to begin ownership vetting.

Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan faces calls for a ban from English football over alleged links to genocide in Sudan.

NGO FairSquare has asked the UK government to investigate the Abu Dhabi ruler’s ties to the Rapid Support Forces, the Sudanese paramilitary group accused of committing ongoing genocide. The group wrote: “There is an abundance of evidence from multiple credible sources… that the UAE has been providing weapons, ammunition, and other supplies to the RSF since June 2023.”

FairSquare identified Sheikh Mansour as “a senior and visible UAE interlocutor with the RSF before the outbreak of conflict in Sudan and since.” The Premier League and the incoming Independent Football Regulator have been informed of the complaint. Beginning next month, the regulator will oversee all ownership vetting for English football. Manchester City still face 115 separate Premier League financial charges.
