Brazil have called up Ederson after Wesley was ruled out of the World Cup through injury.

Brazil have suffered an injury setback with Wesley forced to withdraw from the World Cup squad. Coach Carlo Ancelotti has moved quickly, drafting in Atalanta midfielder Ederson as a replacement.

The change comes at a crucial stage of the tournament, with Brazil keen to maintain momentum in their quest for a sixth world title. Ederson now gets an unexpected opportunity to make his mark on football’s biggest stage.

Ederson is set to sign for Manchester United, with an agreement reached earlier this week for his £39m move from Atalanta.

He is expected to be Michael Carrick’s first signing as permanent manager, signing a contract through until 2030.
