South Africa lost to Mexico in the World Cup opener while South Korea edged Czech Republic in the other fixture.

Bafana Bafana could barely lay a glove on Mexico in the opening group match as they lost 2-0. Sphephelo Sithole gave the ball away which led Julian Quinones to open the scoring sending home support wild in the stands. Sithole’s afternoon got worse as he was handed a red card.
