US beat Paraguay in Los Angeles as Canada hold Bosnia to last-minute draw in Toronto

The United States kicked off their World Cup campaign in style with a commanding 4-1 victory over Paraguay, while co-hosts Canada made history with a dramatic late equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to Malta Today, Canada trailed for much of the match in Toronto before rescuing a point in front of a jubilant home crowd. The result marked Canada’s first-ever point at a FIFA World Cup after losing all six of their previous tournament matches.

Earlier in Los Angeles, the US raced into a 3-0 halftime lead and never looked back, comfortably dispatching Paraguay in their Group D opener.

The results followed Mexico’s 2-0 win over South Africa in the tournament’s opening match.
