Curacao’s Eloy Room makes 15 saves in 0-0 draw with Ecuador…

Goalkeeper Eloy Room produced a record-equalling 15-save masterclass to earn Curacao a historic first World Cup point in a goalless draw against a wasteful Ecuador side.

ROOM WRITES HISTORY WITH RECORD-EQUALLING DISPLAY

Eloy Room had one job tonight. He did it 15 times over.

The Miami FC keeper produced a stunning performance to earn Curacao their first-ever World Cup point, matching Tim Howard’s 2014 record for most saves in a single World Cup match, per BBC Sport.

His best came inside three minutes, denying Enner Valencia from close range. From there, he barely stopped — repelling Yeboah, Valencia again, Caicedo, Vite, Rodriguez, Angulo, Plata and more.

Ecuador racked up 27 attempts and an xG of 3.05. They still haven’t scored at this World Cup — 39 shots, zero goals, across two games.

Curacao, who lost 7-1 to Germany in their opener, now have a genuine shot at the knockouts if they beat Ivory Coast next.

Ecuador, meanwhile, must beat group winners Germany or go home early.
