Saibari ruled out for France clash, but hope remains

Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi has confirmed incoming Bayern Munich attacker Ismael Saibari will miss Thursday’s World Cup quarterfinal against France due to a hamstring issue, though he’s hopeful the injury won’t rule him out of the rest of the tournament.

Mixed news out of the Morocco camp. Ouahbi confirmed Saibari’s hamstring problem rules him out of facing France, telling reporters via Foot Mercato’s Hanif Ben Berkane that “this game is too soon,” while adding hope he won’t miss the remainder of the competition.

Saibari had already sat out Morocco’s final training session, following earlier absences. The 25-year-old had been in scintillating form, scoring in each of Morocco’s first three matches before going off after just 21 minutes against Canada in the Round of 16.
