Newly elected FIGC president Giovanni Malagò finalized the groundbreaking four-year agreement, which gives Maldini unprecedented control as the president of ‘Club Italia’.
Under this historic restructure, Maldini will completely oversee the tactical and developmental direction of all national team squads, stretching from the grassroots youth ranks directly up to the senior team.
In a major structural addition, Maldini’s former Milan teammate Leonardo joins the setup as a specialized technical advisor.
The duo’s immediate, pressing mandate will be to identify and hire a permanent head coach to guide the Azzurri into a new era.
