Bowen set to stay at West Ham for Championship return

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen has committed to staying at the club for the 2026-27 Championship season, prioritising promotion over a return to the Premier League elsewhere.

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen has ruled out a summer exit, committing to the club’s first Championship campaign since 2011-12, the BBC reports.

The 29-year-old, who scored nine goals last season and has 85 in 280 appearances since joining in 2020, said meeting directors Daniel Kretinsky and Jiri Svarc in Prague convinced him the club’s ambition matched his own.

Bowen, who netted West Ham’s dramatic 2023 Conference League final winner, insisted relegation “should hurt everyone” but stressed his loyalty runs deeper than results.

He hasn’t signed a new deal—his current contract runs to 2030—but will begin pre-season under Nuno Espírito Santo, ahead of the August 16 opener at Burnley.
