Joao Pedro attributes his impressive start with Chelsea to the seamless integration facilitated by his new teammates. Following Chelsea's commanding 4-0 victory over AC Milan, the Brazilian forward praised the team's environment for enabling him to showcase his best form almost immediately.
Since his transfer from Brighton in early July, Pedro has wasted no time making an impact, particularly shining at the Club World Cup. His debut start saw him scoring twice against Fluminense, aiding Chelsea's triumph. He further solidified his position by netting another goal in the final showdown against Paris Saint-Germain, securing the world championship title for his new club.
Despite a brief respite, the 23-year-old's return to pre-season training last Monday hasn't slowed his momentum. He continued his scoring streak with goals in friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan, marking his name on the scoresheet in every game he's started for Chelsea.
Having previously scored 22 goals in 89 Premier League appearances, Joao Pedro's £60 million move to West London ranks him as Chelsea's 11th most expensive acquisition in history.
Reflecting on the game against Milan, Pedro said, "I’m very happy to score here at Stamford Bridge. I have enjoyed this pre-season; two games, two goals. Now we have to rest, keep on working hard, and then start well in the Premier League."
Off the pitch, the Brazilian international emphasized the ease with which he has formed connections with his teammates, contributing to his comfort on the field. He also highlighted the team's support for each other, pointing out the instance when Liam Delap scored, Joao Pedro was seen applauding him from the sidelines.
When discussing competition, Pedro stated, "It’s very good for Chelsea if we are both at a good level. In the last game, he didn’t score, but today he scored two goals, and I am very happy for him."
Chelsea is set to commence their Premier League campaign against FA Cup and Community Shield champions, Crystal Palace, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling season.
