Esther Okoronkwo claims cash was stolen from Nigerian players in Morocco hotel

Esther Okoronkwo has accused hotel staff in Casablanca of stealing cash from Super Falcons players ahead of the 2026 WAFCON.

Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has alleged that cash was stolen from players’ rooms during Nigeria’s training camp in Casablanca ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The striker claimed the money disappeared while players were away and accused housekeeping staff of carrying out the theft.

Okoronkwo later clarified that she lost $700 after initially saying $500 was missing, adding that teammates Halimatu Ayinde, Asisat Oshoala and Joy Omewa also had money stolen.

According to Punch ng, the players confronted hotel officials but were dissatisfied with the response.

The report added that the matter has been reported to the relevant Moroccan authorities, while neither the Nigeria Football Federation nor the hotel had issued an official statement at the time of reporting. Source: Punch Nigeria.
