Iraola starts Liverpool reign with 4-2 comeback victory over Sunderland

Andoni Iraola enjoyed a winning start as Liverpool manager after the Reds came from behind to defeat Sunderland 4-2 in their opening pre-season tour match in the United States.

Andoni Iraola began his Liverpool tenure with a 4-2 victory over Sunderland in Nashville as the Reds kicked off their pre-season tour of the United States in style.

Kieran Morrison opened the scoring before Sunderland turned the game around, only for Dominik Szoboszlai, Federico Chiesa and Lewis Koumas to complete Liverpool’s comeback.

Joe Gomez, however, suffered an early injury and was substituted with a suspected muscle problem.

According to Sky Sports, Iraola admitted there were areas to improve but described the performance as a positive starting point, while confirming Gomez’s injury was the biggest concern from the match. Source: Sky Sports.
