Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso says he already has a clear plan to integrate club-record signing Morgan Rogers alongside Cole Palmer, insisting the England midfielder can make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge.
BBC Sport reports that Rogers, who joined from Aston Villa for a British-record £117 million, signed a six-year deal and is expected to adapt quickly despite missing the start of pre-season after England’s World Cup campaign.
Alonso described Rogers as one of the best available options for the role and believes his understanding with Palmer will strengthen Chelsea’s attack.
He said the pair can link up effectively if deployed with the right balance and structure, adding that the club wanted a player capable of delivering immediate quality.
The Chelsea boss also confirmed more transfer activity is expected before the window closes, with Maxence Lacroix nearing a move and further squad changes anticipated.
Alonso said the club remains flexible while working to maintain the right balance of quality, mentality and experience across the squad.
