Atletico Madrid take Barcelona to Spanish FA over Alvarez saga

Atletico Madrid have lodged a complaint against Barcelona with the Spanish football federation over their pursuit of Julian Alvarez, and Barcelona plan to appeal.

Atletico Madrid have escalated their transfer standoff with Barcelona, reporting the Catalan club to the RFEF over an alleged ethics breach in their chase for Julian Alvarez.

According to The Athletic, Barcelona are preparing an appeal against the complaint.Alvarez, contracted at the Metropolitano until 2030, sparked the saga after telling reporters during the World Cup that he wanted a move away.

The Athletic reported Barcelona had offered around €100million in May, while Real Madrid also saw a €150million bid rejected.

Atletico responded to the transfer noise with mocking fake posts on social media. The forward joined from Manchester City in 2024 and has scored 49 goals in 106 appearances since.
