CONCACAF’s 41 member associations have unanimously rejected FIFA president Gianni Infantino’s proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise plan, which reportedly sought private investment in FIFA World Cup commercial interests.
The confederation said its members raised concerns over the lack of due process, limited consultation, a tight decision deadline and the absence of approval through FIFA’s governance structures.
The proposal also prompted questions over the need for outside investment after FIFA’s most profitable World Cup.
According to football journalist Ben Jacobs, CONCACAF has instructed its FIFA Council members to pursue increased FIFA Forward funding from existing FIFA reserves and ensure any future proposals comply with FIFA’s statutory governance procedures.
