Gianni Infantino has withdrawn the FIFA Forward Enterprise project following widespread opposition, while remaining committed to continuing as FIFA president despite renewed calls for his resignation.
Gianni Infantino has abandoned plans for the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) after widespread opposition from member associations and financiers, according to Ben Jacobs.
The FIFA president confirmed the proposal would not proceed after emergency meetings revealed support had collapsed, including among some of his closest allies.
Infantino said the project was designed to strengthen FIFA’s member associations but acknowledged it had created divisions that undermined its original purpose.
He pledged to reunite stakeholders and continue discussions on growing football worldwide. The decision ends the FFE project just days after its launch.
Those close to Infantino maintain he has no intention of resigning or stepping aside, although efforts to find an election challenger and calls for his resignation continue.
