Liverpool is reportedly preparing a new bid of £120 million for Newcastle United's star striker, Alexander Isak, according to football journalist Ben Jacobs. Despite Newcastle United turning down an initial offer of £110 million, Liverpool remains determined to secure the Swedish international's services this summer.
Jacobs reported on X that Liverpool is awaiting encouragement from Newcastle before submitting their improved offer. Isak has reportedly prioritized a move to Anfield and is waiting to see if Liverpool will make a second bid. He has indicated that he will not change his stance unless Liverpool informs him that a move is impossible.
The journalist added that Newcastle desires clarity on the situation this week, with club ownership now involved in meetings specifically concerning Isak. Liverpool believes their initial £110 million bid was competitive, considering it was fully guaranteed and followed indications from Newcastle that they would engage with such an offer. The swift rejection of the initial bid, without a counter offer to the suggested £150 million valuation, has led to some confusion.
Sources within Newcastle have suggested that the £110 million bid was intentionally low to gauge the market, but Liverpool feels it was a legitimate starting point based on previous discussions.
