Liverpool Launch British Record Bid for Newcastle’s Isak; Player Agrees to Terms

Liverpool are on the verge of making a record-breaking offer for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, according to multiple reports. The Reds have reportedly scheduled a meeting with Newcastle this week to discuss a potential £120 million transfer, plus additional performance-related bonuses.

This ambitious move comes after Liverpool’s impressive summer spending spree, which has already seen them bring in six new players. However, the imminent sale of Luis Diaz is expected to free up additional funds for this significant investment.

The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope suggests that Liverpool may need to reach a figure closer to £150 million to secure Isak’s signature, potentially requiring the sale of either Diaz or Darwin Nunez to fund the deal. Meanwhile, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has described Liverpool’s formal bid as ‘a matter of time’.

Adding further weight to the transfer speculation, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Isak has personally agreed to a five-year contract with Liverpool. Although Newcastle’s preference is to keep Isak, Eddie Howe acknowledged the player’s desire to leave and confirmed he would not be part of the club’s upcoming tour. This leaves the Magpies with a difficult decision: accept Liverpool’s offer or risk losing their star player for less later.
