Tottenham turn down record £4.5bn takeover bid

Tottenham’s owners reject a £4.5bn takeover bid, reaffirming long-term commitment amid leadership changes.

Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a world-record £4.5 billion takeover bid from US tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick. According to The Sun, Earick’s consortium offered £3.3 billion to purchase the club and an additional £1.2 billion for transfers, agent fees, and wages.

Despite the lucrative proposal, the club’s owners, the Lewis family and ENIC, “unequivocally rejected” the offer, stressing their long-term commitment to Spurs. Following their decision, Earick withdrew his interest and confirmed to the London Stock Exchange that he does “not intend to make a firm offer for the Company.”

The bid comes during major boardroom restructuring after the exit of long-time chairman Daniel Levy. Former Arsenal executive Vinai Venkatesham now serves as CEO, supported by new Non-Executive Chairman Peter Charrington.

The ownership’s refusal signals a renewed focus on internal growth and sustained sporting success rather than a change in control.
