Mbappe and Konate undergo treatment at France camp as Deschamps downplays injury concerns ahead of qualifiers.
France captain Kylian Mbappe is undergoing treatment for a minor ankle issue after joining the national team ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Azerbaijan and Iceland.
Coach Didier Deschamps confirmed the Real Madrid star sustained a “small niggle” during Saturday’s 3-1 La Liga win over Villarreal but insisted it was “not serious.” Deschamps said the medical team would “assess the situation and see how it develops.”
Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate also received treatment after picking up an injury in the Reds’ 2-1 loss to Chelsea. Both players are expected to continue rehabilitation this week.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola was released from camp due to a hamstring issue, prompting a medical dispute between PSG and the French federation over his diagnosis.
France currently top Group D with two wins from two and host Azerbaijan at the Parc des Princes on Friday before facing Iceland away.
