Roy Keane urges Man United to hire Simeone to ‘cause havoc’

Roy Keane says Diego Simeone’s fiery leadership could revive Manchester United amid Ruben Amorim’s struggles.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has suggested that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone should replace under-pressure manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. Keane made the remarks on The Stick to Football podcast, arguing that Simeone’s fiery personality and tactical discipline could bring back the team’s lost edge.

“I’ve said it for years, I’d like (Diego) Simeone to go in there,” Keane said. “He’d rock up to that place and create havoc — but good havoc. No guarantees, but his personality and track record speak for themselves.”

Manchester United sit 10th in the Premier League, having won just three of their eight matches this season. Amorim, who took charge in November 2024, has only managed 19 wins in 50 games, fueling doubts about his future.

While Keane’s choice excites fans, Simeone’s long-standing commitment to Atletico — with his contract running until 2027 — makes such a move unlikely.
