Germany eased to a 4-0 victory over 10-man Luxembourg, with captain Joshua Kimmich scoring twice in a commanding World Cup qualifier performance.
Germany secured back-to-back victories in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a routine 4-0 win over Luxembourg in Sinsheim on Friday night. Goals from David Raum, Serge Gnabry, and a brace from captain Joshua Kimmich sealed a dominant display for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
Germany began strongly, eager to avoid any slip-ups on home turf. Nick Woltemade thought he had opened the scoring early when Serge Gnabry’s effort deflected in off him, but the goal was ruled out for handball. The breakthrough arrived in the 12th minute when David Raum fired home a fine free-kick for his first international goal.
Luxembourg’s hopes faded eight minutes later when Dirk Carlson was sent off for handling the ball in the box. Kimmich converted the resulting penalty to make it 2-0. After the break, Germany maintained control, and Gnabry added a third before Kimmich struck again in the 50th minute to complete the scoring.
Nagelsmann’s men dominated possession and rarely needed to accelerate beyond second gear as Luxembourg struggled to cope with their hosts’ fluid movement and pressing. “Kimmich put in a captain’s performance,” Goal reported, highlighting the Bayern star’s tireless work and composure.
With this win, Germany strengthen their position in Group A ahead of their next qualifier against Northern Ireland on October 13.
