Jack Wilshere is in line to become Luton Town’s next manager after holding talks with the club.
Former Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere has emerged as the leading candidate to become Luton Town’s new manager. The 33-year-old has held advanced talks with the club and is expected to replace Matt Bloomfield, who was sacked earlier this week.
Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens was also interviewed but Wilshere is now the front-runner, though a deal has not yet been finalised. His most recent role was as interim coach at Norwich City, where he led the team for the final two games of last season after Johannes Hoff Thorup’s dismissal.
Wilshere previously coached Arsenal’s Under-18s and was considered for the Gunners’ Under-21 role in the summer. He has also been linked to Plymouth Argyle before Tom Cleverley’s appointment.
Luton, relegated twice in two seasons, sit 11th in League One after five defeats in 11 matches. Wilshere earned 34 England caps and won two FA Cups with Arsenal.
