Crystal Palace issue firm stance to Manchester United over Adam Wharton transfer pursuit

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish says he is unsurprised by reports linking Manchester United with a move for midfielder Adam Wharton but maintains the player is committed to the club.

Wharton, who joined from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024, has been a standout performer for the Eagles, playing a key role in their FA Cup triumph and starting all 10 matches this season.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Parish said: “I think Adam at some point will want to play either in the Champions League with us, if we can make that happen, or probably with another club.”

He described Wharton as “an extraordinary talent” but added that the 21-year-old is “completely focused on putting the games in” and earning a regular England spot.

Parish also confirmed that talks have begun with manager Oliver Glasner over a new deal, adding: “We’re building something. Oliver wants to win things. Hopefully we can make something happen.”.
