AC Milan is reportedly keen on signing Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski next summer, with the 37-year-old’s contract at Camp Nou expiring and the Italian club likely waiting until June for a potential deal.
According to a report from Sports Mole, Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has emerged as a “suitable target” for Serie A giant AC Milan ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window.
The interest comes amid speculation that the 37-year-old Polish forward is nearing the end of his stay with the Spanish club, which is already said to be actively scouring the market for his replacement.
The report, citing Italian outlet Tuttosport, states that AC Milan is keenly interested in securing the services of the legendary veteran.
However, any move for Lewandowski during the immediate January trading period is deemed “impossible” given the considerable finances of the proposed deal.
Consequently, the Rossoneri will likely wait until the summer transfer window in June to fight for the talent, a timing that aligns with the potential expiration of Lewandowski’s contract at Camp Nou at the conclusion of the term.
Despite his age, the prolific forward continues to demonstrate his world-class ability both at the domestic and international level.
Since making his high-profile switch from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, Lewandowski has scored an impressive total of 108 goals in 159 matches for Barcelona.
This season alone, he has maintained his crucial offensive contribution, tallying seven La Liga goals in nine appearances so far, showing no immediate signs of slowing down at the top end of the pitch for Barca.
The veteran striker remains equally vital for his nation, having recently provided three goal contributions for Poland in recent qualifiers against the Netherlands and Malta.
Lewandowski’s immediate focus remains on international duty, as he will be looking to fire his nation to the 2026 World Cup, with Poland facing the “dreaded playoffs in March” to decide their participation.
Meanwhile, Barcelona, in anticipation of his potential departure, is actively looking at options to fill the void at centre-forward.
The club’s long-standing attraction to elite goalscorers means that figures like Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane could be “tempted to have a crack at Spain before making his way back to the Premier League.”
More realistically, the Catalan side has shown strong interest in Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, who already boasts a “trophy-laden CV despite his young age,” suggesting a forward-thinking generational shift is being prepared at Camp Nou to ensure the team remains competitive.
