Adama Traore banned from lifting weights at West Ham United

West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo has barred Adama Traoré from lifting weights to maintain his agility, despite social media footage showing the muscular winger bench-pressing 145kg at the training ground.

West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo has officially banned Adama Traoré from lifting weights at the club’s Rush Green facility.

Despite Traoré’s previous claims that he avoids the gym, teammate Crysencio Summerville recently shared footage of the winger benching 145kg.

Nuno insisted the 30-year-old’s physique is purely genetic, stating, “It’s enough weight that he carries,” while urging the Spaniard to prioritize “prevention work” instead.

The January signing has struggled for minutes since his £2m move from Fulham, largely appearing as a substitute.

However, Nuno remains confident in Traoré’s impact during the Hammers’ relegation battle, describing him as a “high-level player” with a “unique” skillset.

Addressing the winger’s current role, Nuno remarked, “He’ll do prevention work [in the gym], but he’s not in there lifting weights,” to ensure optimal performance.
