Akor Adams surpasses Rashidi Yekini in Nigeria’s all-time La Liga scoring charts

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams secured a historic milestone on Saturday night, scoring the decisive penalty in Sevilla’s 2-1 comeback victory over Athletic Club to become the 11th highest-scoring Nigerian in La Liga history.

By netting his sixth goal in Spain’s top flight—his third in just two matches since returning with a bronze medal from the Africa Cup of Nations—Adams has now “moved ahead of legendary Super Eagles forward Rashidi Yekini” and surpassed marks set by Bartholomew Ogbeche and Christantus Uche.

After Robert Navarro opened the scoring for the visitors and Gerard Fernández equalized, Adams stepped up in the 55th minute to calmly convert from the spot following a VAR-confirmed handball, a result that “lifts Sevilla above Athletic into 11th place” and moves Matías Almeyda’s side five points clear of the relegation zone.
