Canada captain Alphonso Davies faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a muscle tear in his right hamstring during Bayern Munich’s 3-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Canada captain Alphonso Davies faces a nervous wait after suffering a right hamstring tear during Bayern Munich’s 3-2 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The injury occurred just four months before Canada co-hosts the 2026 World Cup.
Having missed nine months last year with a serious knee injury, Davies covered his face in frustration as he left the field early in the second half.
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany offered a cautiously optimistic update despite the club confirming the muscle tear.
Kompany stated: “It doesn’t look too bad. I don’t know whether it will be two weeks or four weeks. But I have the feeling it won’t be too long.”
Canada is scheduled to open its World Cup campaign on June 12 at BMO Field in Toronto.
