Ruben Amorim confirmed Matheus Cunha and Harry Maguire are out for Manchester United’s clash with Crystal Palace, while Benjamin Sesko also remains sidelined, dampening spirits after a recent defeat.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim confirmed that both Matheus Cunha and Harry Maguire will be unavailable for the upcoming Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace due to injury issues.
United will face Crystal Palace in the Premier League this Sunday without key players Matheus Cunha and Harry Maguire, according to a report from Steven Railston, Manchester United Writer, in the Manchester Evening News.
Manager Ruben Amorim confirmed the early team news, stating that Cunha is missing after suffering a “minor” knock in training, which caused him to miss the recent Everton game and pull out of a public appearance due to “medical reasons.”
Defender Maguire remains sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained against Tottenham before the November international break.
Amorim also provided an update on forward Benjamin Sesko, who is still out with a knee issue. The manager expects Sesko to return before the Wolves game on December 8, but cautioned he “may need more time.”
Regarding the immediate return of the injured players, Amorim stated:
“Sesko is going to take a little more time. Harry is the same [he will need more time], but I expect to have Matheus in the next one, not this one. It will take a little bit longer – we will take care of the injury.”
The injury news comes after United’s undefeated run of five games was abruptly ended by Everton earlier in the week, a defeat which saw the Toffees claim a victory despite playing 77 minutes with 10 men.
Reflecting on the tough result, Amorim commented on the mental impact on the squad: “It was really tough, the week was hard with this result, this defeat, but the process needs to continue and we need to go to the next game. If I look at the games, we should have more points.
We had the advantage in some games and we lost control, which is really disappointing and frustrating, especially after the last game.”
