Ancelotti shares verdict on Vinicius Jr.’s Clasico actions

Carlo Ancelotti weighed in on Vinicius Junior’s controversial actions during a recent Clasico, offering his perspective on the young star’s behavior and the impact on the highly anticipated match.

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti, a former coach of Real Madrid, publicly weighed in on Vinícius Júnior’s recent disciplinary issue, revealing that he spoke privately with the winger following his outburst during Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona in El Clásico on October 26.

According to FotMob reporting, Ancelotti condemned the Brazilian superstar’s actions, which saw him storm off the pitch and down the tunnel after being substituted by Xabi Alonso in the 72nd minute. Vinícius Júnior eventually returned to the bench to see out the match.

Ancelotti, who called up the 25-year-old for Brazil’s upcoming November friendlies, addressed the incident directly, confirming the conversation.

“We have a good rapport with Vinícius just as we have with other players,” Ancelotti said. “I have spoken to Vinícius about it, I told him what I thought, that he made a mistake.”

The manager confirmed that the player acknowledged his actions: “He understood he had made a mistake and he apologized. I believe the issue is resolved. He is a very important player for us. He can help us a lot.”

The report also noted that Vinícius Júnior issued both a private and public apology to the club. Ancelotti emphasized his role remained purely professional, adding: “As for his personal life, it’s his, I’m not his father nor his brother, I’m just his coach.”

The incident appears closed as Vinícius Júnior is focused on helping Brazil ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
