Arne Slot benched Mohamed Salah and changed Liverpool’s formation for their Champions League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Arne Slot dropped Mohamed Salah and switched from his usual 4-2-3-1 to a 4-4-2 formation as Liverpool faced Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. The Reds had lost four straight matches before the trip to Germany, prompting five lineup changes. Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Milos Kerkez, and Conor Bradley also missed out as Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Curtis Jones, Jeremie Frimpong, and Andy Robertson returned.
Slot fielded Alexander Isak and Ekitike together in a £204m strike partnership, with Wirtz operating on the right and Frimpong providing width. “We need to try today again to create as much chances as we have the last few weeks,” Slot told TNT Sports before kickoff. “We are hoping and expecting Jeremie Frimpong to create something for these two from the right side.” Frimpong, however, was forced off after 19 minutes due to a hamstring injury.
