Arne Slot gets prickly response as Arsenal star hits back after Liverpool boss’ criticism

Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie has dismissed criticism from Liverpool manager Arne Slot regarding the Gunners’ physical reliance on set pieces, insisting that winning is more important than aesthetic appeal.

Arsenal’s Piero Hincapie has hit back at Arne Slot’s claims that the Premier League’s physical approach to set pieces makes games “not a joy” to watch.

The Liverpool boss expressed frustration over officiating leniency, contrasting the league with the Eredivisie.

Defending Arsenal’s style, Hincapie stated, “The most important thing for me is that we are successful and don’t do anything illegal in the process.”

The Gunners currently lead the Premier League by seven points, largely due to their dead-ball efficiency under coach Nico Jover.

Slot suggested referees allow too much contact on goalkeepers, but Hincapie remains indifferent to the skepticism.

“You can’t always win beautifully,” the defender added. Liverpool now face a crucial Champions League second leg against Galatasaray, trailing 1-0 after a disappointing first-leg performance in Istanbul.
