Arne Slot opens up on family struggles amid Liverpool pressure

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is facing pressure due to the team’s poor form, a situation compounded by him living apart from his family who remain in the Netherlands.

Arne Slot, the 47-year-old Liverpool boss, is enduring an intense period of pressure at Anfield, which is compounded by being separated from his family as he attempts to navigate a difficult second season.

According to a report from The Mirror, the Dutchman’s professional struggles, which include a “second season slump” that sees Liverpool sitting a “lowly 12th after 12 games” with “six league defeats,” are being felt harder as his wife and children remain in their homeland.

Slot and his wife, Mirjam, made the decision for her and their son Joep and daughter Isa to remain in the Netherlands so their children’s education would not be disrupted following his decision to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking to Dutch outlet AD earlier this year after leading the club to their second Premier League title in five years in his debut season, Slot detailed the minimal time he gets to see his family.

He said: “Anyone who is married and has a good marriage, I think I do, would like to see the children and the wife a bit more. My wife comes over for a couple of days every two weeks, the children unfortunately even less.”

Slot also admitted his public status has been difficult for his wife, stating: “She (Mirjam) finds that attention the hardest part of our lives…

She also prefers to get take-out food instead of us sitting down together. She feels differently that she is being watched or judged.”

The manager is now in the “firing line,” according to Jamie Carragher, following the team’s 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.
