Liverpool moved within three points of the top four following a 1-0 victory over Sunderland, though the win was overshadowed by a serious injury to Wataru Endo.
Arne Slot has challenged Liverpool to find greater consistency after a 1-0 win at Sunderland ended the hosts’ 12-game unbeaten home run.
A second-half deflected goal from a set piece secured the points, lifting the Reds within touching distance of the Champions League spots.
However, the victory was dampened by a significant foot injury to full-back Wataru Endo, who was stretchered off.
Reflecting on the need for more clinical finishing and the impact of the injury, Slot remained cautious about the road ahead.
He said: “We’ve shown that response so many times already this season. Now it’s about the consistency and the results. It is a serious one.
How serious we don’t know yet because then of course he has to be assessed tomorrow, but it doesn’t look good.”
