Arsenal awaits updates on Leandro Trossard’s muscle injury after their Champions League win, with three teammates also undergoing scans ahead of the Chelsea clash.
Arsenal medical staff are set to conduct further tests to determine the full extent of Leandro Trossard’s muscle injury, according to a report from Football London.
The Belgian forward, who has recently been in “fine goalscoring form” after netting against Sunderland and Tottenham, was withdrawn from the first half of the 3-1 Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich after feeling an issue in the back of his calf.
This development has sparked “fears he is set for several weeks on the sidelines.”
Manager Mikel Arteta commented on the injury immediately after the side ousted the Bundesliga champions, stating: “With Leo, we don’t know [the extent of the injury]. He said he felt something. We didn’t want to take any risks, obviously.”
The Gunners, who currently top both the Premier League and Champions League standings, have already dealt with a host of injuries this season to players including Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Magalhaes, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Martinelli.
Attention now turns to the recovery of two other key players. Attacker Viktor Gyokeres has been sidelined since November 1 after picking up a muscle issue following the 2-0 win at Burnley.
Meanwhile, Kai Havertz has been out since the opening day of the season at Manchester United with a knee injury that required a minor surgical procedure. It is understood that on Wednesday, both players, along with centre-back Gabriel, underwent further scans to establish a clearer timeline.
Arteta is expected to provide an update on their condition on Friday ahead of the crucial weekend trip to second-place Chelsea.
