Arsenal eyes Wembley move amid ambitious £500m Emirates expansion

Arsenal is exploring a temporary relocation to Wembley Stadium as part of a massive £500 million project to expand the Emirates Stadium capacity beyond 70,000.

Arsenal has entered preliminary discussions regarding a transformative expansion of the Emirates Stadium, aiming to reclaim its status as London’s largest club ground.

The proposed £500 million project seeks to increase capacity from 60,700 to over 70,000, potentially overtaking rivals Tottenham and West Ham.

To avoid playing before reduced crowds during construction, the Gunners are considering a temporary move to Wembley Stadium, a strategy previously utilized by Spurs.

The ambitious redesign, reportedly inspired by Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu, may include a 360-degree scoreboard and structural modifications to the existing stands.

While the exterior would remain largely unchanged, the internal overhaul is designed to slash a season-ticket waiting list exceeding 100,000.

Regarding the project’s scale, co-chair Josh Kroenke noted: “It would be premature to talk about any plans in depth, but the internal conversations are starting to occur about it. It is not an easy renovation, but we see the possibilities of what’s there.”
