A frantic Premier League encounter at Selhurst Park saw Crystal Palace and Bournemouth share the points in a dramatic 3-3 draw, secured by a late penalty from Palace hero Jean-Philippe Mateta.
The visitors stunned Oliver Glasner’s side early, taking a commanding two-goal lead thanks to a first-half brace from teenage forward Junior Kroupi, who looked comfortable on the step-up from the French second division.
The Eagles, however, found their feet after the break, with Mateta converting Daniel Munoz’s crosses for two quick goals to level the scores and shift the momentum.
The drama peaked in the final minutes. Ryan Christie seemingly sealed victory for the Cherries in the 89th minute, only for Mateta to hold his nerve from the spot in stoppage time after a foul on Marc Guehi.
The French striker then spurned a glorious chance to win it, firing over from eight yards out, meaning, “A draw was probably a fair result, however, after an enthralling affair between these two upwardly mobile sides.”
