Balotelli says Vieira’s sacking by Genoa is ‘karma’

Mario Balotelli took aim at former manager Patrick Vieira after the Frenchman was sacked by Genoa, describing the situation as “karma” and accusing him of exploiting others’ work.

Mario Balotelli has criticized Patrick Vieira following his dismissal as Genoa manager, saying that “Karma is a b****” less than a day after the club confirmed his exit.

Vieira, sacked after a poor start to the Serie A season that left Genoa bottom of the table, had a rocky relationship with Balotelli dating back to their time together at Nice. The Italian striker, who joined Genoa in October 2024, played briefly under Vieira before leaving in the summer.

During their spell in France, Vieira once said Balotelli’s “mindset isn’t made for team sports” and called him “very difficult to work with.” The tension between both men appeared unresolved as Balotelli posted a scathing message on Instagram.

“God sees everything and takes care of the rest,” he wrote. “Now Genoa can finally focus on people who really like the environment, supporters and the badge.”

Genoa confirmed Vieira’s sacking in an official statement and announced Roberto Murgita as interim coach ahead of Monday’s clash against Sassuolo.
