Barcelona Injury Crisis Worsen as Trio Faces Clasico Doubt

Barcelona’s injury crisis has worsened ahead of El Clasico, with winger Raphinha now a major doubt for the highly anticipated clash against Real Madrid. The Brazilian’s recovery from a hamstring injury has stalled, forcing the coaching staff to halt his return.

According to Sport, Raphinha “felt discomfort” during his latest fitness tests, prompting Barcelona to suspend his progress. Initially expected back for fixtures against Girona and Olympiacos, the 27-year-old has yet to rejoin full training and continues individual work in the gym. His absence could leave coach Hansi Flick without one of his most direct and energetic wide options.

Flick is reportedly adopting a cautious approach, prioritising the winger’s long-term fitness. However, the delay has heightened uncertainty, with just over a week to go before Barcelona’s trip to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The setback compounds Barcelona’s troubles following confirmation that Robert Lewandowski will miss up to six weeks with a thigh injury sustained during Poland’s World Cup qualifier. “Robert Lewandowski has suffered a muscle tear in the biceps femoris of his left thigh. His recovery time will depend on how the injury evolves,” the club announced.

With Dani Olmo also doubtful, Barcelona’s attacking depth is stretched thin, though Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal have returned to training. Flick must now rely on the pair as Barcelona seek to stay in touch with La Liga leaders Real Madrid, amid growing fears they could face their fiercest rivals without two of their key forwards.
