Billy Bonds, the iconic West Ham United captain, has died aged 79. He holds the club’s appearance record with 799 games and famously led the team to two FA Cup final victories in 1975 and 1980, establishing his legendary status among the club’s supporters.
After retiring as a player, Bonds managed West Ham for four years, securing two promotions. He also had coaching spells at QPR and Millwall. In 2019, West Ham honoured him by renaming a stand at the London Stadium after him, cementing his legacy at the club.
