Bodo/Glimt achieved a historic 2-1 upset over Inter Milan at San Siro to advance to the Champions League last 16 with a 5-2 aggregate score.
Norway’s Bodo/Glimt made history at San Siro, eliminating last season’s runners-up Inter Milan with a 2-1 victory.
The 5-2 aggregate win marks the first time a Norwegian club has reached the last 16 since 1997.
Former AC Milan player Jens Petter Hauge opened the scoring before Hakon Evjen doubled the lead, rendering Alessandro Bastoni’s late goal a mere consolation for the Italian giants.
The achievement is particularly remarkable as the Norwegian side is currently in its off-season.
Reflecting on the monumental upset, Hauge stated: “For us it’s been unbelievable. We knew it would be very hard against Inter who are a very strong team and played in the final last season.”
Bodo/Glimt now joins Newcastle, Atletico Madrid, and Bayer Leverkusen in the knockout stages.
