Sunderland staged a remarkable comeback from two goals down to beat Bournemouth 3-2 in a dramatic Premier League clash, with substitute Brian Brobbey heading the late winner.
According to a report from The Guardian, Sunderland secured a “memorable victory” over AFC Bournemouth, fighting back from a swift two-goal deficit at the Stadium of Light to win 3-2.
The Black Cats’ resilience was highlighted as they conjured a comeback against a “similarly determined, and talented, Bournemouth.”
The visitors got off to a quick start on Saturday, with Amine Adli finding the net after just seven minutes, following a shot from Evanilson that hit the post.
Eight minutes later, Bournemouth doubled their advantage courtesy of a “40-yard lob” from Tyler Adams, whose “long-range wonder-goal” capitalized on goalkeeper Robin Roefs being off his line. The American’s strike was one of the best goals of the season.
However, Sunderland reacted before the break when Enzo Le Fee pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in the 30th minute.
The hosts then equalized in the 46th minute after halftime, as Bertrand Traore finished a brilliant ball from Granit Xhaka.
The comeback was complete in the 69th minute when substitute Brian Brobbey, who had just replaced Wilson Isidor, “connected with a fabulous Le Fée corner” to score the winner with an emphatic header.
The result moves Regis Le Bris’s team temporarily up to fourth place in the Premier League table. The incredible fightback led to one celebratory post from NBC Sports Soccer stating:
“SUNDERLAND. ARE. INEVITABLE. An extraordinary comeback from 2-0 down gives the Black Cats a 3-2 win.”
