Bryan Mbeumo’s sister reveals texts questioning Man Utd move

Bryan Mbeumo’s sister revealed texts where she questioned his transfer to a struggling Manchester United, but the forward was resolute in his decision to join the club.

According to his sister Maeva Gouge in an interview with The Athletic, the exchange came amid swirling transfer rumours. Mbeumo asked: “Are you alone? … Don’t say anything. They are not rumours. United are interested, I’m interested too.”

Maeva pushed back, questioning the choice of Manchester, remarking: “Why Manchester? Their league position isn’t very good!”

Mbeumo responded with conviction: “It’s a club that can bounce back. Their game plan is interesting, I’m committed. I’m a man of my word, for now I’m going there.”

Despite earlier resistance from Brentford and competing interest elsewhere, Mbeumo remained firm, telling his sister: “It’s going to happen.”

According to Maeva, that clarity in his mindset helped Manchester United secure the signing. “He really wanted it, in his mind, it was Manchester.”

Mbeumo, aged 26, has already made contributions for United this season, scoring goals and recording assists, and now prepares for a blockbuster away match at Anfield.

The revelation underscores the personal dimension behind high-profile transfers and how player conviction can outweigh public criticism or doubt about club fortunes.
