Five-time African champions Cameroon have been handed major injury concerns just ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoffs in Morocco, according to a PUNCH report. Midfielder Zambo Anguissa and striker Eric Choupo-Moting both sustained injuries during an intense training session and remain doubtful for the tournament.
Anguissa reportedly picked up an unspecified muscular injury, while Choupo-Moting was injured on the same day. Coach Marc Brys is now likely to be without both players for the second semi-final against DR Congo on Thursday (today). Should Cameroon win, they will advance to face the winner of the other semi-final between Gabon and Nigeria on Sunday.
Cameroon secured their playoff spot after a 0-0 draw with Angola on the final day of qualifying, finishing four points behind Group D winners, Cabo Verde. The playoffs will determine which African team advances to the final FIFA playoff tournament in March 2026 for a chance to qualify for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
