Captain Fede Valverde to undergo tests for adductor discomfort

According to Madrid Universal reporting, Real Madrid captain Federico Valverde is scheduled to undergo tests to determine the extent of a physical issue sustained during the UEFA Champions League defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

The Uruguayan international, however, could not inspire his team to a victory last night as Los Blancos fell to a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League at Anfield.

Following the game, Valverde confirmed after the game that he had sustained some physical issue.Journalist Melchor Ruiz of COPE provided an update, reporting that Valverde ended the encounter with “discomfort in his right adductor.”

The 27-year-old, who has assumed the captaincy and right-back duties in the absence of Dani Carvajal, will undergo tests at the Real Madrid training facilities to assess the injury’s severity.

A potential sidelining of Valverde would be a significant blow for the Spanish giants, who are already grappling with a defensive crisis.

Real Madrid’s backline is currently depleted, with Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, and Antonio Rudiger all unavailable. Valverde has been a near-ever present figure this season, featuring in 14 of the team’s 15 matches across all competitions.

Real Madrid will be keenly awaiting the results, hoping the discomfort is not serious ahead of their La Liga trip to Rayo Vallecano later this week.
