Carney Chukwuemeka and Paul Wanner switch international allegiances to Austria

Young talents Carney Chukwuemeka and Paul Wanner have officially switched their international allegiances to Austria, aiming to secure spots in the squad for this summer’s World Cup.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has chosen to represent Austria at senior level, opting against England or Nigeria.

FIFA’s official Change of Association Platform shows that the 22-year-old Vienna-born midfielder has switched his allegiance from England, who he represented at youth level, to Austria.

Chukwuemeka could make his debut for Austria as early as this month and now has a strong chance of being included.

Joining him is PSV youngster Paul Wanner. Regarding his choice, the 20-year-old stated, “This decision was probably the most difficult one in my career.

Because of my parents, my upbringing, and my career so far, I have two hearts beating in my chest.”

Wanner, who previously played for Germany at youth levels, has had his switch officially approved by FIFA, clearing him for selection.
