Manchester United have officially confirmed that veteran midfielder Casemiro will leave Old Trafford at the conclusion of his contract this summer, ending a three-year tenure that saw the Brazilian earn both the EFL Cup and the FA Cup.
While the 33-year-old’s £375,000-a-week wages were reportedly a point of contention for co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe in his efforts to streamline the club’s financial structure, Casemiro’s late-career resurgence under Ruben Amorim ensured he remained a vital component of the starting lineup during his final campaign.
Addressing the news of his upcoming departure, the former Real Madrid star stated,
“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life. It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months.
We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed.”
