Celtic's pursuit of Jakob Breum, the talented winger from Go Ahead Eagles, has hit a snag, according to reports from Football Insider. The Scottish club's summer transfer plans could be complicated by recent developments involving both Go Ahead Eagles and their rivals, Rangers.
The initial report suggests that Go Ahead Eagles might be hesitant to part ways with another key player after already selling Oliver Antman to Rangers. This reluctance could significantly impact Celtic's chances of securing Breum's signature.
Journalist Peter O’Rourke shed light on the situation, stating, "They’ve had three bids rejected, [Breum] is a long-term target, and Celtic will be hoping they can get a deal over the line." He further explained that the Antman transfer to Rangers could be a major complicating factor. "That move might have been complicated by Rangers having signed Antman from Go Ahead Eagles, so Go Ahead don’t really need to sell right now," O'Rourke noted.
O’Rourke also highlighted Go Ahead Eagles' improved financial position due to their participation in the Europa League group stages, reducing their need to sell players for revenue. "They’ve already sold one of their best players to Rangers, and they don’t really need the money either – they’ve got the Europa League group stages to look forward to," he concluded.
This series of events presents a challenging scenario for Celtic, who must now navigate these complexities if they wish to add Breum to their squad.
