Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk launched a scathing attack on the officiating following his side’s 4-0 Champions League elimination by Liverpool, specifically citing a lack of protection for Victor Osimhen.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk criticized the officiating standards following Wednesday’s crushing 4-0 defeat at Anfield.
While conceding that Liverpool deserved their victory, Buruk was incensed by the physical treatment of Victor Osimhen, who suffered a fractured arm during the match.
The Turkish side’s aggregate lead was erased by a clinical Reds performance, leaving Buruk to lament both the referee’s decisions and his team’s costly errors.
The manager’s assessment of the refereeing was particularly blunt during his post-match briefing.
Buruk stated: “While we were expecting the world’s best referee, the world’s worst referee managed the match. Liverpool clearly deserved to win.”
Despite the frustration, he apologized to supporters for the exit, noting the squad’s relative inexperience at this elite level as they now pivot back to their domestic title race.
