Chelsea Football Club has been issued an immediate nine-month academy transfer ban and a £10.75 million total fine after self-reporting historical financial irregularities and youth registration breaches.
The Premier League has sanctioned Chelsea for historical breaches involving financial reporting and third-party investments between 2011 and 2018.
The club received a £10 million fine and a one-year first-team transfer ban, which is suspended for two years.
Aleague statement confirmed that “undisclosed payments by third parties associated with the club were made to players, unregistered agents and other third parties.”
Additionally, a separate investigation into youth development rules from 2019 to 2022 resulted in an immediate nine-month academy registration ban and a £750,000 fine.
Despite the sanctions, no points were deducted because the club voluntarily reported the evidence.
The Premier League Board noted that “the club’s proactive self-reporting, admissions of breach and exceptional cooperation throughout the investigation acted as significant mitigating factors.”
